The truth behind the poster….

— by Kate

The two Land for Wildlife programs in the NT; Central Australia & the Top End will both cease to receive funding from the NT Government from July 1 this year. Both our programs have been grateful recipients of a modicum of reliable and ongoing funding from Parks and Wildlife NT for the past 9 years. No longer!

While we desperately seek other funding opportunities, we ask those that we support to support us at this worrying time. Not only do we believe in, and support conservation on private land, science is PROVING the importance of our members conservation efforts. Many, many scientific studies show that habitat areas on private land; small & large, urban & rural, are increasingly used as refuges and corridors by wildlife. YOUR little bit, does a BIG bit!

As the famous WWI poster stated: YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU.

Consider some things that YOU can do to support us to continue to support you:

* Have a conversation with your local MP – Federal AND State…ring, email, chat to them over the shopping basket. Wherever the opportunity arises, talk to them.

* Do the same with your local council members

* Send us your ideas for garnering funds – do we crowd fund, do we ‘Sausage Sizzle’, cake stall, walk for wildlife fundraiser……….?

* Tell us what it is that makes you donate to organisations – that will help us understand how to approach people who give.
